HFH India has launched Access to Water and School Sanitation project in Rajasthan. The project directly addresses the critical need for safe, hygienic sanitation facilities for girl students in Government Senior Secondary School, Khijuriwas Bhiwadi. By constructing new toilet units, ensuring clean drinking water, providing menstrual hygiene management facilities, and promoting awareness, the project aims to enhance health, hygiene, educational outcomes, and the dignity of girl students.
The objectives of the impact evaluation project were to analyse the impact of the new sanitation and menstrual hygiene management facilities on the overall performance of the students such as impact on the attendance of female students, educational outcomes in terms of academic performance and increased awareness among female students regarding menstrual hygiene management.
The research team followed a mixed-method evaluation approach involving both quantitative and qualitative data collection methods to gather and analyse data. The evaluation was based on the OECD-DAC framework.
To capture data for indicators of the evaluation framework, the research team used different sources to collect primary and secondary data. Major data sources used during this evaluation are survey of the students using structured questionnaires, FGDs with the schoolteachers and key informant interview with the principal of the school.
Samavit conducted the impact evaluation of the project – access to water and school sanitation in Rajasthan. Samavit conducted primary and secondary research for the project. The data collected through the project was analyzed and based on the data collected an impact evaluation report was provided to the HFH India team including the key recommendations for upcoming projects.
